Junior Formats

Here is a quick summary of our junior formats;

 

Stage 1 (beginners to cricket)


- boys and girls aged 8 to 10
- T20 format
- 7 players on field (min 5 and max 9 in team)
- 16m shorterned pitch length so you can get your bowling right
- everyone bats and bowls
- batsmen don't get out till you face the minimum balls per player
- losing a wicket awards the other team with 4 runs
- 40m boundary - let's hit those 4s!
- soft ball upto 100g

Stage 1 -  U11 (ideal for kids who have already played Stage 1 as beginners)


- competitive with a semi and final
- 2 divisions Div 1 and Div 2
- rules very similar to Stage 1 beginners but you are out if you lose your wicket
- T20 format
- 7 players on field (min 5 and max 9 in team)
- innings end at 6 wickets
- 40m boundary
- Div 2 - 16m pitch length, soft ball upto 120g
- Div 1 - 18m pitch length, 142g Kookaburra leather ball

Stage 2 - U13 comp


- competitive with semi and final
- 2 divisions Div 1 and Div 2
- 9 per team and 11 in squad
- Div 2 - 18m pitch length, 142g Kookaburra leather ball
- Div 1 - 20.1m pitch length, 156g Kookaburra leather ball
- player has to participate in 4 matches to qualify for the final
bowling:
- 30 over format
- 15 overs bowled from each end
- max 8 balls per over, except in the last over where 6 legal deliveries must be bowled.
- innings end at 8 wickets
- 45m boundary
- maximum 9 bowlers (squad can be 11)
- 6 players shall bowl a minimum of 3 overs, or have commenced a spell of 3 overs, before any bowler is permitted to bowl a 4th over
- those who did not bat must bowl at least 1 over
batting:
- 20 balls minimum faced per bastman (optional retirement to give opportunity for other players)
- compulsory retirement after 35 balls faced (to give opportunity for other players)
- batsman can be retired only once per innings
- compulsory or optionally retired batsmen may return to the crease and continue their innings in the same order in which they retired, but only after every other listed player in their team has batted. 

 

Stage 3 - U15 comp


- competitive with semi and final
- 2 divisions Div 1 and Div 2
- 11 per team and 13 in squad
- 20.1m pitch length, 156g Kookaburra leather ball
- innings end at 10 wickets
- Div 1 - mixture of 2 day and 30 over formats
- Div 2 - 30 over format
- 50m boundary
- player has to participate in 4 matches to qualify for the final
bowling:
- 6 players shall bowl a minimum of 3 overs, or have commenced a spell of 3 overs, before any bowler is permitted to bowl a 4th over
- div 1, 6 legal deliveries must be bowled in every over and bowlers bowl from alternate ends.
- div 2, maximum of 8 balls per over, except in the last over where 6 legal deliveries must be bowled.
- div 2, 15 overs are bowled from one end then 15 from the other end.  Coaches may agree to bowl all the overs from one end.

Stage 3 - U17 comp


- same as U15 Div 1 comp
